The Kicking Horse Country Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2024 Business & Community Excellence Awards (BCEAs)! These awards recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of local businesses, organizations, and individuals who make Golden and Area A such a vibrant and thriving community.

This year, we are excited to bring you 12 award categories that showcase the diversity and variety of our local business community:
• Business of the Year
• New Business of the Year
• Tourism Award
• Community Organization Award
• Employer of the Year
• Industry & Trade Excellence
• Young Entrepreneur Award
• Food & Beverage Excellence
• Customer Service Excellence

Included in the award categories are three new awards for 2024.

Community Legacy: Nominated businesses have been in operation for 20 years or more in the community. They have shown resilience and innovation in keeping their doors open – as well as demonstrated a strong sense of community in their operations.

Farm to Fork: Nominated businesses must create or produce a consumable product (livestock, preserves, fruits/ vegetables, grains, beverages, etc.) sourced locally. They have demonstrated sustainable business practices and positive impact in the community.

Retail Excellence: Nominated businesses must be in the retail industry but do not require a brick and mortar storefront. They have demonstrated consistent quality, customer service and innovation in their business practices.

Peter Bowle-Evans Volunteer Award: This is a special community award for the volunteer of the year! Peter Bowle-Evans was instrumental in making the road to the top of Mt. Seven for a hang-glider and paraglider launch. The site has since become the dropping off point for downhill mountain bikers and is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Following Peter’s passing in an avalanche, the decision was made to name the road to Mt. Seven in his honor, and the creation of this award was established in his memory.

Nominees of this award are individual(s) that have shown exceptional volunteer work in the community and have dedicated their personal time towards economic impact in Golden and/or Area A. Economic Impact can be viewed in a very broad sense for this award. The Peter Bowle Evans Award will be adjudicated by the Town of Golden and the Golden and District Community Foundation, they are also the sponsors of the award. You can nominate your picks here.
